This morning as I was drinking my morning coffee, an ad popped up on my news feed informing me that Moor’s End Farm was having their first day of the “pick your own strawberries.” Of course, I instantly jumped out of bed, dressed Odin and I, fed the chickens and collected eggs, and within 15 minutes we were at the farm ready to pick! I’ve been waiting for this for weeks, since Winter lasted longer than it did last year. We love small farms. They’re so dreamy to me and I really cannot wait until we can have our own someday. We walked through the rows of flowers in and outside the greenhouses and we visited the chickens and pigs and beehives. Odin loved helping pick but I think he loved eating them even more. There are a few kids who live on the farm so there’s loads of farm tools all around. It’s really the dreamiest of places, and it makes me crave our future more than ever. Zak works with mushrooms in the mushroom lab at Moor’s End so we’ve been there a few times before. Everyone was so nice and genuinely welcoming and it was much different than picking strawberries at the bigger farm on island.
Zak and I dream about owning our own land every day. We cannot wait to start our little farm and live in our own house that we built. We have been trying our best to save every penny, but it can definitely be harder than it sounds to do so. I hope our dreams come true sooner than later, especially after a visit to such an amazing farm this morning. I could sit in that strawberry field all afternoon and imagine what our lives would be like if we were doing that sort of work too.
We left the farm with strawberries and I was lucky enough to also leave with a motivation to work that much harder to reach our goals.
