So, in case you haven’t heard, we’re expecting. We’re so excited to have another babe join our family in September and we are very much hoping to have another beautiful homebirth like we did with our sweet Odin. Homebirth is not covered by insurance here so we are hoping to raise the funds we need through a doll raffle and auction. With Odin, we were able to pay over time and the funds came from our very small savings. This time, we are really hoping to keep our savings where it is because it’s due to become land and a home one day (hopefully very soon). So, I had the idea to have a little doll raffle with some dolls that are a little different than my typical hooded dolls. I made a batch of Beautiful Friends dolls awhile back and was eager to do another so I thought they might be perfect for a raffle. I’ve never done anything like this on this scale and I’m so desperately hoping it is enough to cover our costs. I have worked on these dolls for hours and hours and have poured so much of my heart and soul into them all. I will be finishing them up over the next couple days and am hoping to list them on my website Thursday night. The raffle will run for one week.
How it will work:
I don’t like the idea of a typical raffle where everyone buys into it without anything returned at all, so for this raffle I will be making downloadable coloring sheets. You will be buying the downloadable coloring sheet and when that purchase is made, you will be entered to win the corresponding doll. Each listing will show one coloring sheet and the one doll that will be paired with it. There will be eight listings.
Now, there’s a few ways you can do it- you might have one favorite doll or maybe you just want to help the cause (I love you all), you can enter by buying just one coloring sheet. You can then print it out and color away (and share it with your friends)! If you really really like one of the dolls, then you can even buy multiples of that corresponding coloring sheet. If you buy more than one, say you buy six of one coloring sheet, you will be entered for that one doll six times. You could also buy one of each sheet, then you’ll have all eight coloring sheets and be entered once for each doll raffle. The only stipulation will be if a particular doll does not round up enough raffle ticket purchases to match his or her retail value, I will refund all entrants for that doll and post the doll at their retail price (you will get to keep the coloring sheet for free of course). Each raffle ticket will be $10.
The auction will happen this weekend and will be for a custom spot, which I have never offered before. I will post more about that on my Instagram and Facebook pages later this week.
I am so hopeful and so grateful and so excited for this. I am hoping with all of my heart that all of these hours of work can help us with something that is so very important to us.
Please let me know in the comments below if anything is unclear or if you have any questions at all. Feel free to share this with your friends if you feel called to. Please share if you love homebirth or handmade dolls or if you’ve ever known me and think you’d like to contribute. I am so scared and excited, but mostly grateful that I am able to do this at all. Thank you. SO much.
